Loving Jovie The Consequences Series Book 1 edition by Peggy Dabney Ellie Bockert Augsburger Carl Augsburger Romance eBooks
Well well well . . . I have read my first romance novel. What a great introduction to the genre! Good story, lots of unexpected twists, suspense, even action, with a generous portion of that stuff that makes the world go round! The writing is solid. I especially liked each character telling what was going on and what he or she was feeling. Interesting device, which I have never encountered before so well-implemented.Obviously, I am no expert on romance novels. So I'm not going to pontificate here. I will say that reading this was pure pleasure __ which reminded me of what sitting down and reading a book is at heart all about. It's easy to get all serious and make hard work out of reading, which may be the reason many people avoid it. But escaping into a great novel is an experience like no other. It is a flight of fancy taken with the author as the pilot. Peggy Dabney knows how to fly. If this is her first effort at a full-length novel, my hat goes off to her. Good job!

Loving Jovie
Loving Jovie is the debut novel from Peggy Dabney.
Jovie is an Art Curator who in the very beginning of her book gets her heart broken by her boyfriend Leo. Reeling at the shock she goes on a road trip with her best friend and rebounds with Kree’s brother Owen who himself is having a tough time.
Jovie is clearly a strong character but when her loving boyfriend inexplicably breaks up with her, her flaws show, she knows she shouldn’t get involved with Owen but she does (no judgement, Owen is HOT!) and even though she is still in love with Leo she allows Owen to fall for her.
Owen is out of the military to find his girlfriend hasn’t waited for him and Jovie is a beautiful woman under his roof, he falls for her, against his better judgement.
Leo has an ulterior motive for breaking up for Jovie and his intentions are honourable, he does it to keep her safe, when she returns he wins her back but her safety is in jeopardy.
The book then throws us onto a thrilling ride of danger, love, protectiveness and understanding. You won’t be able to put Loving Jovie down until the end, until you find out if Jovie, Leo and Owen gets their HEA…
Favorite Quotes
“Her cheeks are naturally rosy, with her whiskey-colored eyes expressing a happiness that makes you instantly smile.”
“You are my whole heart. You are my happily-ever-after, my beloved. I will love you until the end of time and beyond.”
My Review
This was a busy book, a lot happened in this entertaining read. A good debut for a new author that crossed the genres of romantic suspense, new adult, contemporary romance, and also had characters who had recently return from military service. While Loving Jovie is the first of a series, thankfully it was a complete stand-alone story without a dreadful cliffhanger, although I was growing fearful of one as I was nearing the end. The beginning was somewhat melodramatic, although it got and held my attention. I was undecided who to root for, as the lucky girl had two hunks vying for her attention and willing to fight for her favor. There were also a few steamy scenes that lightened the story, and further muddled my decision on whose team to cheer for. Some girls get all the luck, but Jovie actually had to work for hers, as like I said, it was a busy book.
In her debut novel, Loving Jovie, author Peggy Dabney weaves an delightful tale of intrigue, drama, and romance. The reader is easily drawn into the complicated love triangle between Jovie Iams, an art curator; her boyfriend, Italian chef Leonardo Manning; and her best friend's brother Owen Michaels, an ex-soldier who just returned home to Iowa from military service abroad. And if a tangled romantic web isn't enough for you, the author interweaves an intriguing mixture of emotional baggage and dark secrets, and a dangerous criminal mafia element involved in the art world who threatens Jovie's life.
I really enjoyed the mixture of romance and suspense that was interwoven throughout the story, it kept me engaged and turning the pages. I couldn't help but get caught up in the lovers triangle, both Leo and Owen captured Jovie's heart, and I could sympathize with her as she struggled to pick which man would ultimately win her heart. Just as the emotional drama from the lovers triangle starts to heat up, the author adds in the intriguing dangerous criminal element that takes the reader on an exhilarating and suspenseful roller coaster ride to the surprising conclusion.
If you are looking for an exciting romantic suspense story to wile away a long winter's day, look no further, Loving Jovie is the book for you!
